An Infestation of Germs

No not JERM! Germs. Actually Jeremy was the first to get sick. But PTL he was able to still complete the revival. At times he thought it was just allergies, but it was a cold. He was able to get a lot of rest, and although the cough is still there, he is definately doing better. But Brother Nowling and Jessa have been really sick. They've had to continue going to work as there are so many sick and/or vacation that the airlines is really shorthanded so they had to stick it out, fever and all. Brother Nowling's week at AA at least is done but Jessa is actually covering a partial shift for someone so is having to put in a 12 hour day. They both so need your prayers.

By the way, I just read Northwest Airlines cancelled 166 flights this weekend due to pilots calling in sick! Ouch! I'm flying out of Chicago to Chattanooga for IYC on Northwest. I hope they get their act together before then.

Brother Nowling won't be going to church this morning. Both for his sake and the members sake. He doesn't want to pass it on. So I'm preaching. As I was thinking about it dawned on me if I preach that would mean I'd teach SS, lead song service and then preach. Not to good of idea for several reasons. So Jenna, Jeremy and I were sitting outside enjoying the beautiful Alaska 70 degree weather about 8 pm last night and I asked Jenna about teaching, and asked Jeremy about leading song service. Though neither jumped at the opportunity Jeremy made a deal with Jenna that he would if she would. I know God can use us all.

Wow-What a couple of Weeks

The last couple of weeks have been a whirlwind. First with my mother-in-law being here, then going to Bethel, and then revival with Brother Jeremy. I thank God my girls are older and help out because I can't keep up. Work was the busiest it's ever been. I go all day without it slowing down. By the time I get home, there's only one hour before church. The girls have been good and had dinner ready all but one night, and that was ok because that night on the way home from work the screw came out of my glasses and I had to have Joleesa drive me to get them fixed before church. To top of everything, almost every day from Wednesday on, my stomach has been feeling yucky. Also, Jeremy's had a bad cold/allergies/asthma so he hasn't felt the best. Now Brother Nowling's got a horrible head cold. He stayed back from revival last night as to get some extra sleep as he couldn't call into work as they are really shorthanded. Jessa has been putting in a lot of overtime because they're so short.

I think I'm beginning to agree with Brother Ray, 3 night revivals are perfect. Though Jeremy preached good messages (that were even short - so we were out by 8 pm or a little after), it's really tough doing the full week.

Heather Mac also came to Alaska the same day Jeremy came through town on his way to Bethel. She's in the airforce and is now stationed at Elmendorf here in Anchorage. Brother Nowling spent Monday and Tuesday car shopping with her and Joleesa. So that's the sightseeing Jeremy did the first two days. Wednesday, Jessa took him to flattop, Thursday I came and got him at lunch time and took him downtown and dropped him off. You know girls are really more decisive then boys. In asking what Jeremy would like to do this week ~ NOTHING IN PARTICULAR. Girls/ladies would at least give suggestions. So anyway, we did take him to Earthquake Park and Lake Hood (sea planes-but he only cares for planes if he's in them~ugh). I think his interest isn't too much in the beauty of the mountains, and the water ~ grin.

Anyway today, we're going to the bank for me to co-sign for Joleesa's car loan. We'll get brunch and then head to Alyeska to take the Tram (this is something I've wanted to do and Brother Nowling doesn't so I've saved it for when Jeremy was here). It'll be just Jeremy, Jenna and I which will be a first because we have had someone else with us all the time ever since he came. I hope the fickled Alaska weather holds out for us.

Joleesa found a car she really wants so please pray, if she's suppose to have it, it'll all come together. And please remember Brother Nowling in your prayers, he has already asked for me to cover tomorrow morning as he feels so rotten.

Fun in Bethel

I hate blogger... I just lost my post. UGH.

Jenna, Jeremy Adams and I just got back from Bethel. We had great fun boating (everyone else fished, but I decided not to due to my elbow) with Suttons and Cabelas, with Megan, Micah & Nathan in their boat. It was rainy, windy, and cold but I had the time of my life. A great memory. I even got to walk on Tundra as Brother Bobby pulled over to spot just so I could do so. I even invented the Tundra roll ~ you'll have to ask any of those present about that ~ I'm sure Jenna will be sharing it ~ smile. It started out very relaxing but as I got wet, I got cold. The ride back felt like I was on the ocean. I was glad I was prayed up ~ as I found myself really praying as we were flying through the air on the huge waves. Then I even experienced the state trooper pulling us over doing a general registration check. I couldn't believe it, cold and rainy and they choose then to do it. It was an experience I'll never forget. Though I was wet and cold, I really was relaxed in a way I hadn't been for a long time.

Brother Jeremy shared some great thoughts in his preaching. Now we're about to head off to begin revival here in Anchorage. I'm looking for God to really bless.

Oh by the way Megan and Nathan caught several Pikes in their boat. Jeremy and Rusty each caught two Pikes in our boat. That was pretty good for Rusty seeing he spent most his time helping everyone else and laughing as they fished.

Sister Tammi, I actually took Jeremy's camera so I did get a picture of one of his fish. We'll be sure he get's picture.

Copper River Reds Salmon

Brother and Sister Texture gave us some Copper River Red Salmon. I understand the Copper River isn't open for everyone to fish AND it produces the best Red Salmon. Well I still hadn't become real fond of Salmon yet and I had never cooked it, yet grilled it before in my life...but...my mother-in-law and her friend, Barb (who by the way, I've been having a great time with both of them), are here and we wantedto grill it for them. I asked my boss, who is always grilling out and loves every kind of seafood there is, for a recipe. Here's what he wrote down for me butter, White Worstershire sauce, lemon pepper, Lawry's season salt, garlic, brown sugar and lemon juice. No amounts of any kind. So...I just went at it. He said grill with the skin down and slow and when it's done the meat will slide out on the spatula leaving the skin behind (you may have all known this but this was new to me ~smile). I did and it turned out PERFECT and I LOVED IT, and so did everyone else, except Joleesa. Ugh, that girl is worse then me at getting that "idea" of fish and the "smell" of fish out of her head. It was really good. AND I DID IT!

By the way, does that make me a true Alaskan now?

I'm looking forward to having a good service tomorrow and then in the afternoon the youth and I will be going out to do a combo scavenger hunt/pass out tracts and revival fliers. Please pray we have a good turn out of young people. Jeremy, there are lots of prayers going up for you.

Update

Well obviously I'm back from the Adams' It was a great visit. They have so become family to us. We didn't really do much of anything but relax and visit. God was so good to give Sister Tammi her voice back while I was there as we shared so much together as did Brother Ray. I love them dearly. I did play Monopoly with Darren. Not just any Monopoly but MEGA Monopoly. That's what's it's called. There are additional properties (4 vs 3 to make a set). You don't just buy houses and motels, but you can buy skyscrapers (while they last). You also put train depots on the railroads. It was fun, but I got whipped. Darren made it a slow death for me as I kept landing on his skscrapers and I didn't have the $2500 to pay it he took whatever I offered until I finally said, it's ok for him to win (it was midnight) ~ grin. I would like to play again with more people.

I got home at 1:30 am and really didn't sleep much that night cuz of things that Brother Nowling had shared with me when I got home. I felt the burden, but the weekend gave me more of a calm to be able to deal with some of the things.

Monday night we cleaned house and got the room ready for my mother-in-law and her friend that were coming in Tuesday. AND I went to bed at 9:30 pm. I just couldn't keep going.

Tuesday when I got here they were here. Excited and raring to go. They're in their late 70's and early 80's. This is my mother-in-laws first time flying. She is in awe. Barb, her friend is a hoot. She's travelled alot as she has retired from Northwest Airlines (that's how Mona, Jody's mom was willing to come). We went to dinner last night at The Peanut Farm and saw all kinds of Pink and King Salmon swimming in Campbell Creek right outside the restraunt. It was great. Then we went over to the WildBerry Company for them to see the huge Chocolate Fountain. We had get home so that I could do the state books so we didn't do any real sightseeing.

Today Jessa is taking them to Baluga Point and Aleyska and they are going to take the Tram. Tomorrow hopefully Joleesa (she needs to find someone to cover for her)will be taking them around.

Oops it's late I've got to get to work. Have a good day

Yipee! Sister Tammi's Got Her Voice Back!

Now Brother Ray's not necessarily saying Yipee, but I wasn't wanting to have to be the only one doing the talking. I have been having a great visit with these two precious people. It has been so long since I have spent time like this, just doing nothing but fellowshipping. I got in at 8:10 am and Sister Tammi and went to breakfast, and we came back to the house and I expected to shower and change to go the cemetary service that Brother Ray was officiating over. He reiterated his wife's email message to me that I didn't have to go, I was still going to but when he said they would only be gone about 1 1/2 hours I thought my body really does need a nap. I made myself comfortable on their couch and was out in seconds (I hadn't slept much on the flight as the man two seats down from - the seat next me was empty, PTL, had such body odor it was terrible, with their cat Sasha laying on me. Now I'm not an animal fan, but I don't hate them, and it was cozy having her on me and I slept really sound until I turned over and heard the loud thud...oops Sasha is now been thrown on the floor, but I didn't realize that until later. It was a very refreshing nap, and when they said they'd be back at noon they were.

We literally visited all day about the joys and trials of life. Then we went out for Mexican (my choice) and I had the Chimichonga (?) outside of El Patio in Menomonie. Then we drove around town and girls, I saw cows again. Not moose cows, how cool is that~ great big grin. AND girls I had DAIRY QUEEN with no wait ~smile. Anchorage got a new DQ and we've been wanting to go but the lines have been miles long (not an exageration). We came back and visited some more and then went to bed. I slept well and was up 8 am and the visiting has been going on again today. We'll be going to the store in a little bit and then Brother Ray's going to grill out and then I'm trying to convince Brother Ray and Darren to play some cames with us. Darren says if we'll play monopoly, ugh! Brother Ray (or Tammi in his behalf) says Dominoes ~ I can handle that. I'll have to let you know what we wind up playing and with whom ~ grin.

It just feels so good to be here!

Short Post

Was yesterday the 4th of July? I wouldn't have known except that I had the whole building at work to myself. I had the gospel radio station playing quite loud and it was playing religous, patriotic music (there really is such a thing-"The Statue of Liberty" for one). I got so much accomplished at work. It makes a difference when there are no phones or people to interrupt. It made the day not seem like a holiday, let alone the 4th of July. I have been told they DO do fireworks here but they do it at midnight as to have some semblence of a dark sky to go against. I climbed into bed at midnight. So my July 4th was just another day.

I'm headed out tonight (or early tomorrow morning - 2 am) to Sister Tammi Adams. I am really looking forward to the visit. I almost all packed, except I have to get some small bottles of things as I am not checking my bag. I hope to get home and go right to bed to get a few hours of sleep. I'm not one that can go a little sleep.

Please pray for my co-worker Ronada, she has some major health problems and the medication leaves her impaired so she has been told she can't come to work until the doctors get her medicine regulated. She is on her 4th doctor and she is scared.
